What is to come - 2 Esdras
I wanted to comment on this. But instead, I will let you read and hear what the word of God says. I trembled reading this prophecy. Are we not living in this time?! The time of Luke 21:25-26...
Hear now, what the word of God speaks...and fear Him, who can destroy the soul...
Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.
Luke 21:36 KJV
2 Esdras 13 - from the Common English Bible (CEB)
Vision of the man from the sea
13 After seven days, I had a dream during the night. 2 I looked and saw a wind rising from the sea and stirring up all its waves. 3 As I watched, this wind made something like the figure of a man come up out of the heart of the sea.[a] That man was flying among the clouds of heaven. Wherever he turned his face to look, everything that fell under his gaze trembled. 4 Wherever an utterance came from his mouth, all who heard his voice melted as wax melts when it feels the fire.
5 I kept watching these things, and an innumerable multitude of people came together from the four winds of heaven to fight against the man who had come up from the sea. 6 I watched as he carved a great mountain for himself and flew onto it. 7 I tried to see the region or place from which the mountain was carved, but I couldn’t.
8 After this I looked and I saw that all who had gathered to do battle against him were sorely afraid, yet they dared to fight. 9 When he saw the rush of the multitude coming, he didn’t raise his hand or hold a spear or any weapon of war. Rather, I saw 10 something like a wave of fire shoot forth from his mouth, and a breath of flame from his lips, and a storm of sparks from his tongue. All these things—the wave of fire, the breath of flame, and the mighty storm—mixed together 11 and fell upon the crowd that was rushing forward, prepared to fight. It burned them all up so that suddenly nothing was seen of the innumerable mob except the dust of ashes and the smell of smoke. I saw this and was amazed.
12 After these things I saw the same man coming down from the mountain and calling to himself another crowd—a peaceful one. 13 Many people came to him. Some were rejoicing and some were sad, some were even tied up, while some were bringing other people as an offering.
I woke up in great fear and pleaded with the Most High. I said, 14 “From the beginning you showed your servant these wonders, and you considered me worthy that you should receive my prayer. 15 Now show me also the interpretation of this dream. 16 As I turn it over in my mind, I think: How terrible it will be for those who will be left in those days, and how much worse for those who aren’t left! 17 Those who aren’t left will be full of sorrow, 18 since they now know what lies in store for the last days, but they won’t live to see them. But how terrible it will be also for those who are left, 19 for that very reason! They will see great dangers, and there will be many kinds of distress, as these dreams show. 20 Yet it is better[b] to encounter these things, even incurring danger, than to pass from the world like a cloud and not see what happens at the end.”
21 He answered me, “I will tell you the interpretation of the dream as well, and I will explain to you the things you spoke about. 22 As to what you said about those who are left, this is the interpretation: 23 He who brings the danger at that time will himself guard those who fall into danger, who have works and faith in the most mighty one. 24 Know, therefore, that those who are left enjoy greater privilege than those who have died. 25 The interpretations of the vision are as follows:
“In that you saw a man going up from the heart of the sea, 26 that is the one whom the Most High has been keeping for many ages. He will liberate God’s creation all by himself, and he will put in order those who are left.
27 “In that you saw something like wind and fire and storm go out of his mouth, 28 and that he didn’t hold a spear or weapon of war, yet destroyed the rush of that multitude that had come to fight him, here is the interpretation: 29 Look, the days are coming when the Most High will begin to rescue those who are on the earth. 30 Those who live on earth will go out of their minds. 31 They will plan to wage war against each other, city against city, place against place, nation against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. 32 When these things happen, and the signs that I showed you before take place, then my Son will be revealed, whom you saw as a man rising up. 33 When all the nations hear his voice, then each one will leave its own region and will leave off the wars they were waging against each other. 34 An innumerable mob will be gathered together, as you saw, wanting to come and fight against him. 35 But he will take his stand on the summit of Mount Zion. 36 Zion will come and will appear to all, built and ready, as you saw a mountain carved without hands. 37 My Son himself will indict the assembled nations for their impious deeds—these things were indicated by the storm. He will scold them for their evil plans and reveal the torments with which they are about to be tortured. These things correspond to the flame. 38 He will destroy them without effort by the Law, which was indicated by the fire.
39 “As to the fact that you saw him collecting to himself another peaceful multitude, 40 these are the ten tribes that were taken captive from their land in the days of King Hoshea, whom King Shalmaneser of the Assyrians took across the river as a captive. They were taken into another land, 41 but they made this plan for themselves: They would leave the multitude of the nations and go into a more remote region, where the human race had never lived. 42 There they would be able to observe their customs, which they hadn’t kept in their own region. 43 They went in through the narrow passages of the Euphrates River. 44 Then the Most High gave them signs and stopped the flow of the river until they had passed. 45 They made a long journey through that region for a year and a half, and that region is called Arzareth. 46 They lived there until the last time, and now they begin again to return. 47 The Most High will once again stop the flow of the river so that they can cross. These people make up the multitude gathered in peace, 48 along with those who are left of your people, who are found within my holy boundaries. 49 Then when he begins to destroy the multitude of the nations that are gathered, he will protect the people who have survived. 50 Then he will show them many more signs.”
51 I said, “Supreme Lord, show me why I saw a man rising up from the heart of the sea.”
He said to me, 52 “Just as no one can seek out or know what is in the depth of the sea, so no one on earth can see my Son or those who are with him, except in that time when his day has come. 53 This is the interpretation of the dream that you saw, which has enlightened you alone of all people. 54 You have abandoned your own affairs and occupied yourself with mine, and you have sought out my Law. 55 You have given your life to wisdom, and have called understanding your mother. 56 Because of this, I have shown you these things, for you have a reward with the Most High. After three days I will tell you more and explain to you weighty and wonderful things.”
57 I went out from there into a large field, glorifying and praising the Most High for the wonders he performed over time, 58 and because he governs the times and all that comes about in its time. I stayed there for three days.

A Christian addition
15 [a] Look here, speak in my people’s ears the words of the prophecy that I place in your mouth, says the Lord. 2 See to it that they are written down on paper, because they are reliable and true. 3 Don’t be afraid of conspiracies against you, and don’t be confused by what unbelievers say, 4 because every unbeliever will die in his unbelief.
5 Look, I am bringing disasters over the whole earth—the sword, hunger, death, and destruction, says the Lord, 6 because wickedness has covered the whole earth, and their deeds are complete. 7 Therefore, says the Lord, 8 I will no longer be silent about their wicked deeds, which they do in their godlessness, nor will I tolerate any longer the things they do wickedly. Look, innocent and righteous blood calls out to me, and the souls of the just cry out constantly. 9 I will surely avenge them, says the Lord, and I will receive all their innocent blood to myself.
10 Look, my people are led like sheep to slaughter. I will no longer permit them to live in the land of Egypt, 11 but I will bring them out with a great display of my power,[b] and I will strike Egypt with plagues as before, and I will destroy all its land.
12 Let Egypt howl from its very foundations because of the plague of beating and punishment inflicted by the Lord. 13 Let the farmers who work the ground howl, because they won’t have enough seed, and their trees will be devastated by blight, hail, and terrible storms. 14 How terrible it will be for the world and those who live in it! 15 The sword and distress draw near, and nation will rise against nation to fight with spears in their hands.
16 Human beings won’t be able to trust each other. As they grow strong against each other, they will pay no respect to their king or to the powerful chief of their great men. 17 Someone will want to go into the city and won’t be able. 18 Cities will be thrown into confusion because of their pride. Houses will be destroyed;[c] people will be afraid. 19 People will have no mercy on their neighbors. They will cause their neighbors trouble by breaking into their houses with swords, to pillage their property, because they are hungry for bread and in great distress.
20 Look, says the Lord, I am calling together all the kings of the earth, those from the north and from the south, from the east and from Lebanon. I am stirring them up to make them return and restore whatever my people[d] gave them. 21 As they have done to my chosen ones even to this very day, so I will do to them: they will suffer full payback.[e] This is what the Lord God says: 22 My strong hand won’t spare sinners, nor will my sword stop fighting against those who spill innocent blood on earth. 23 God’s anger has gone forth like fire to devour the earth’s foundations and sinners like kindled straw. 24 How terrible it will be for those who sin and don’t keep my laws, says the Lord. 25 I won’t spare them. Go away, faithless children! Don’t defile my sanctuary!
26 God knows all who sin against him. Therefore, he will hand them over to death and slaughter. 27 Even now disasters have swept over the world, and you will have to endure them. God won’t deliver you because you sinned against him.
28 Look! A terrible sight is appearing from the east! 29 The nations of the serpents of Arabia will go out with many chariots. From the day they begin their journey, their hissing will echo over the earth so that all who hear them fear and tremble. 30 The Carmonians will go forth from the forest[f] in furious rage. They will come with great force and engage them in battle, and they will destroy part of the Assyrians’ land with their teeth. 31 After this, the serpents will remember their origin and become strong. They will turn, united in great strength, to pursue them. 32 Their enemies[g] will be confused and silent because of their power, and they will turn around and run away. 33 From the Assyrians’ land an enemy will attack them in an ambush and will kill one of them. Their army will fall into fear and terror and their kings into indecision.
34 Look! Angry storm clouds from the east and from the north to the south—their appearance is very terrible. 35 They will collide with each other and unleash a mighty tempest on the earth, their own tempest. Blood will flow as high as the belly of a horse, 36 a man’s thigh, and a camel’s hock because of their swords. Great fear and terror will be on earth. 37 Those who see that wrath will be horrified and seized by fear.
38 After this, the mighty clouds will be moved from the south and the north, and another portion from the west. 39 But the winds from the east will prevail and will stop them, together with the cloud it had stirred up in wrath. The tempest that was to cause destruction will be driven violently from the east to the west. 40 Great, angry storm clouds will be raised up so that they may destroy the whole earth and its inhabitants, and they will unleash over every high and lofty place a terrible tempest— 41 fire and hail, flying swords, and much water—so that all the fields and all the streams will be filled with the great quantity of those waters. 42 They will destroy cities, walls, mountains and hills, trees in the forests, grass in the meadows, and their grain. 43 They will proceed steadily to Babylon to destroy it. 44 They will come to it, surround it, and pour out their tempest and all their wrath over it. Dust and smoke will go up to heaven, and all around will mourn it. 45 Those who survive will serve those who destroyed it.
46 You, Asia—you who share in Babylon’s splendor and the glory of the mask it wears— 47 how terrible it will be for you, wretched one, because you have become like Babylon. You dressed up your daughters for sexual immorality, to please and take pride in your lovers, who have always lusted for you. 48 You have imitated that repulsive one in all her works and devices. Therefore, God says, 49 I will send disasters upon you—widowhood, poverty, hunger, sword, and disease—to desolate your houses, to bring you to devastation and death. 50 Your glorious strength will dry up like a flower when the heat that is sent against you rises. 51 Plagues will leave you weak and impoverished, wounded by whips, so that you can’t receive your powerful lovers. 52 Would I have been so jealous of you, says the Lord, 53 if you hadn’t constantly killed my chosen ones, rejoicing, clapping your hands, and talking about their deaths when you were drunk? 54 Make yourself beautiful! 55 The fee due a prostitute is in your lap. Because of this, you will get what’s coming to you. 56 As you will do to my chosen ones, says the Lord, so God will do to you and will give you over to disasters. 57 Your children will die of hunger, and you will fall by the sword. Your cities will be laid waste, and all your people will fall by the sword in the open field. 58 Those who are in the mountains will perish by hunger. They will be so hungry for bread and so thirsty for water that they will eat their own flesh and drink their own blood. 59 Already made miserable by the earlier disasters, you will come to suffer even more troubles. 60 As they return from Babylon, passersby will strike the repulsive city and will destroy her. They will destroy another portion of your glory and your land as they return from Babylon. 61 You will be mown down by them like hay, and they will come upon you like fire. 62 They will devour you and your cities, your land, and your mountains. They will burn all your forests and fruit-bearing trees with fire. 63 They will take your children captive, plunder your wealth, and put an end to your beautiful face.
2 Esdras 16
Oracles of doom against the nations
16 How terrible it will be for you, Babylon and Asia! How terrible for you, Egypt and Syria! 2 Dress yourselves in mourning clothes. Howl over your children and grieve for them, because distress has drawn near to you. 3 The sword has been sent against you, and who can turn it away? 4 Fire has been sent against you, and who can extinguish it? 5 Disasters are sent against you, and who can ward them off? 6 Can anyone ward off a hungry lion in the woods? Or put out a fire in dried hay, once it has begun to burn? 7 Or repel an arrow shot by a strong archer? 8 The Lord God sends disasters; who can ward them off? 9 His anger blazes like fire; who can extinguish it? 10 When lightning flashes, who isn’t afraid? When it thunders, who doesn’t feel fear? 11 The Lord threatens, and who isn’t shaken to the core in his presence? 12 The earth and its foundations shake. The sea heaves from the deep; its waves and fish are sent into turmoil when the Lord shows his face and reveals the glory of his power. 13 The one who shoots the arrow is mighty in glory; the tip of the arrow he releases is sharp and won’t miss when it’s shot to the ends of the earth. 14 Look, disasters are sent forth, and they don’t turn back until they fall upon the earth. 15 Fire is lit and not extinguished until it consumes the foundations of the earth. 16 As an arrow that is shot by a powerful archer doesn’t turn back, so the disasters that will be unleashed upon the earth won’t turn back.
17 I am doomed! I am doomed! Who will save me when those days arrive?
18 The beginning of groaning and an abundance of sighing! The beginning of famine, and many will perish; the beginning of wars, and powerful ones will be afraid; the beginning of disasters, and all will be terrified. 19 What will they do when the disasters come? 20 Look! A plague of famine has been sent out, and the distress it inflicts is like a whip, a punishment for discipline. 21 But in the midst of all these, they won’t turn from their sins and won’t keep the plagues in mind.
22 Look! In a short time provisions will be so cheap on earth that people will think that peace has been established for them, but then disasters will blossom all over the earth—the sword and famine. 23 They will lack life’s necessities, and the sword will scatter those who survive the famine. 24 The dead will be tossed out like dung, and there will be no one to console them, for the earth will be left abandoned, and its cities will be cast down. 25 No farmer will be left to till the ground or to sow seed upon it. 26 Trees will yield fruit, but who will harvest them? 27 Grapes will ripen, but who will gather them? There will be vast, empty wastelands. 28 A person will want to see another human being and hear his voice. 29 Ten will survive out of an entire city; out of a field only two who have hidden themselves in dense groves and fissures in the rocks will be left. 30 As three or four olives are left on individual trees in an olive orchard, 31 or as in a vineyard that has been harvested a few clusters are left by those who diligently search the vineyard, 32 so in those days three or four will be left by those who search house to house with the sword. 33 The earth will be left desolate, and its fields will be taken over by thornbushes, and its roads and all its paths will sprout thorns, because sheep won’t pass on them. 34 Virgins will mourn, having no bridegrooms; women will mourn, having no husbands; their daughters will mourn, having no support. 35 Their grooms will be killed in war, and their husbands will perish from famine.
Exhortations to God’s suffering people
36 Listen to these things and understand them, you servants of the Lord. 37 Here is the Lord’s word. Accept it. Don’t disbelieve the things that the Lord speaks about. 38 Look, the disasters are approaching and won’t be delayed. 39 A woman in the ninth month of pregnancy, when the hour for giving birth arrives, experiences great pains around her womb for two or three hours beforehand, but when the infant is ready to come forth from the womb she doesn’t delay for a moment. 40 In the same way, these disasters won’t delay to come forth on the earth, but the world will groan and pangs will envelop it.
41 Hear the word, my people. Prepare yourselves for battle, and in the midst of disasters be like strangers on earth. 42 Let the person who sells be like a person who is about to run away, and let the person who buys be like a person who is about to lose. 43 Let one who does business be as one who makes no profit; one who builds as one who won’t get to live in the building; 44 one who sows as one who will not reap; one who prunes as one who will not harvest; 45 those who get married as people who will have no children; and those who don’t marry as though they were widowed, 46 because those who toil, toil for no reason. 47 Foreigners will gather their fruits, plunder their wealth, knock down their houses, and take their children captive, for in captivity and hunger they will produce their offspring. 48 Those who transact business do so only to be plundered. The longer they adorn their cities and houses, possessions and persons, 49 the more I will be enraged against them on account of their sins, says the Lord. 50 Just as a proper and good woman is enraged at a woman who is promiscuous,[a] 51 so justice will be enraged against sin when it tries to make itself beautiful, and will accuse it to its face since he who defends will come, hunting up sins on the earth. 52 Therefore, don’t be like it or its ways.
53 Look, just a little longer and sin will be removed from the earth and justice will rule over us. 54 Let sinners not deny that they have sinned, for God will burn coals of fire over the head of those who say, “I haven’t sinned before God and his glory.” 55 Look, the Lord knows all the works of humanity, their devices, their plotting, and their hearts. 56 He said, “Let the earth be made,” and it was made; “Let heaven be made” and it was made. 57 At his word the stars were established, and he knows their number. 58 He examines the abyss and its treasuries. He measures the sea and its contents. 59 He shut up the sea in the midst of the waters and suspended the earth over the waters by his word. 60 He stretched out the heaven like a vaulted ceiling and sank its pillars into the waters. 61 He put springs of water in the desert and lakes on the tops of mountains to send forth rivers from on high so that the earth might drink. 62 He formed the human being and put a heart in the middle of his body and gave him spirit, life, and intelligence 63 and the breath of God almighty, who made all things and examines the things that are hidden in dark corners. 64 He certainly knows your designs and what you think in your hearts.
How terrible it will be for those who sin and want to hide their sins. 65 The Lord will certainly examine all their works and will put you all on parade. 66 You will be put to shame when your sins are paraded before people; your own sins will stand up as your accusers on that day. 67 What will you do? How will you hide your sins before God and his glory? 68 Look, God is judge. Fear him. Stop sinning and forget your wicked practices, never again to commit them. Then God will lead you out and deliver you from all tribulation.
69 Look, the rage of a large crowd will be stirred up against you. They will take some of you and try to feed you meat that was sacrificed to idols. 70 Those who consent to this will be mocked and disgraced by them and trampled underfoot. 71 There will be great uprisings against those who fear the Lord in many places and in neighboring cities. 72 People will be like maniacs on account of their own distress. They will spare no one, seeking to plunder and destroy those who still fear the Lord. 73 They will destroy and rob their possessions and throw them out of their own homes. 74 In that time, the genuine commitment of my chosen ones will be shown, as gold that is tested by fire.
75 Listen, my chosen ones, says the Lord, the days of distress are at hand, and I will deliver you from these. 76 Don’t fear or hesitate, for God is your leader. 77 You who keep my commandments and precepts, says the Lord God, don’t let your sins drag you down, and don’t let wickedness get the upper hand over you. 78 How terrible it will be for those who are choked by their sins and covered over by their iniquities, as a field is choked by overgrowth and its paths are covered over by thorns so that a human being can’t pass through. It is shut off and consigned to destruction by fire.
You know what to do...
May God Almighty, the Father of Lights, El Shaddai bless you, protect you and keep you.
Jesus the Christ, Yahshua HaMashiach is coming. See that you not be shaken. See that your faith be strong. These things are coming on the earth, even as I write this, there are powerful hurricanes striking America, Earthquakes and Volcanos, incoming Solar eruptions. The great shaking is about to occur. But Jesus is coming! And soon! But remember, He is not returning as the Lamb to the slaughter, but the Judge and Ruler of the earth! Long live the Lord of lords and King of kings!
Maranatha!
Come, Lord Jesus!
Behold, the Lord maketh the earth empty, and maketh it waste, and turneth it upside down, and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof. And it shall be, as with the people, so with the priest; as with the servant, so with his master; as with the maid, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with the seller; as with the lender, so with the borrower; as with the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him. The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the Lord hath spoken this word.
